More than 100 new homes are set to transform the upper Glenrosa neighborhood in West Kelowna, thanks to a 2018 plan now nearing reality. West Kelowna city council recently approved the rezoning of nearly 30 acres on Glenrosa Road and Salmon Road to pave the way for this development, which includes 92 single-family homes and 26 multi-family units.

This project was delayed for years as the city’s conditions were being met. Key conditions included registering covenants and statutory rights-of-way to secure improvements to both Glenrosa and Salmon Roads, as well as securing new parkland and trail connections. The city granted two extensions to the rezoning application to allow these conditions to be met. The land at 3280 and 3290 Glenrosa Road, plus an adjacent property on Salmon Road, have now been rezoned from rural residential to a mix of parks, institutional, single detached residential, and low-density multiple residential uses.

The city’s planning department supported the rezoning as it aligns with West Kelowna’s Official Community Plan. In addition to land dedication for road improvements, the applicant will contribute $35,000 for enhancements to nearby Stonegate Park.
