Kelowna’s Mayor and Council marked the start of construction on a highly anticipated community park on DeHart Road. After two years of community engagement, the park’s design reflects local priorities like preserving nature, ensuring diverse uses, and enhancing accessibility and safety. Mayor Tom Dyas expressed excitement, emphasizing how investing in parks strengthens community bonds. Placed between two schools, Anne McClymont and Dorothea Walker, the park is anticipated to foster community vibrancy and engagement. The park will feature amenities catering to various ages and abilities, including pickleball courts, a basketball court, and multi-use fields, among others.

With input from extensive public consultation over a decade, the $8.6 million project is funded by Kelowna’s Parks Development Cost Charge program initiated in 2019, highlighting the city’s commitment to future park development.
