Vernon is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) and seeking input from residents to shape the city’s growth and development over the next 20 years. This includes a joint review with the Transportation Plan, which will influence future transportation infrastructure. Mayor Victor Cumming highlights the need for accommodating an estimated 20,000 new residents by 2045 while preserving Vernon’s unique character. Residents can participate by completing an online survey before July 1 or picking up a physical copy at the Community Services Building. Additionally, pop-up events will be held throughout the community.

The city emphasizes involvement in areas such as housing, environment, transportation, parks, culture, and community. Survey questions address desired changes, safety concerns, and housing preferences. Technical review and analysis will also assess various aspects of the OCP.
