Vaughan is getting a brand-new, state-of-the-art performance and arts centre in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC). The City of Vaughan has teamed up with QuadReal Property Group to bring this vision to reality, with a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) marking the official start of planning.

The VMC is well-connected with a subway station, rapid bus transit, and proximity to Highways 400 and 407. The area is rapidly developing, with projections of 12,000 residential units, 1.5 million square feet of office space, and 750,000 square feet of retail space by 2031. The new arts centre, set to open between 2029 and 2032, will be located in QuadReal’s Assembly Park community.

Mayor Steven Del Duca highlighted the centre’s importance for Vaughan’s cultural and economic vitality. A 2019 study estimated the facility could stimulate over $100M in economic activity from construction alone, with an additional $2.5M annually benefiting the local economy.

This venue aims to support local talent and the city’s thriving creative economy, which includes more than 3,500 businesses. Toby Wu, QuadReal’s Executive Vice President, noted that the arts centre will enhance community experiences, bringing people together through art, music, and events.
