The plan entails the creation of two vibrant entertainment districts and the construction of a 12,000-seat stadium to cater to Surrey’s anticipated population growth. Emphasizing the need for decisive action, Locke highlighted the city’s aspiration to offer big-city amenities, such as major sporting and entertainment facilities, to residents.
In addition to boosting the entertainment sector, Locke’s agenda includes ambitious employment initiatives, with plans to open up new employment land and create one job for every working Surrey resident. The city also intends to bolster essential services, including hiring more emergency responders, expanding childcare facilities, and investing in infrastructure enhancements. Furthermore, Locke announced significant educational advancements, including the upcoming openings of a UBC campus and a medical school at Simon Fraser University, reinforcing Surrey’s status as a dynamic and forward-thinking municipality.
