A Vancouver-based company, SixFive Stadium Experience, has proposed a 12,000-seat stadium at Tom Binnie Park in Surrey for approximately $35 million. The stadium is part of Surrey’s feasibility study for a mixed-use entertainment and sports facility, which also includes consideration for other locations like Newton and Cloverdale. While the city hasn’t committed to any specific proposal, the Surrey Board of Trade supports the idea, emphasizing its flexibility for various events and urging fast-track approval and construction.

The proposed stadium could accommodate a professional soccer team and is envisioned as a multi-use venue for concerts and community events. Despite some concerns about the site’s proximity to the BC Lions’ training facility, supporters see it as an opportunity to enhance Surrey’s entertainment offerings. SixFive believes the stadium could be built within 12 to 14 months, making it a potential training ground for national soccer teams during the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in Vancouver. The proposal features a grass field initially for tournament requirements, with the potential for turf conversion afterward to accommodate diverse events and maximize utilization.
