The Penticton City Council has approved a development permit for a five-story residential complex on Front Street. The complex, situated at 123 Front Street on an empty lot, will comprise 48 units, including bachelor, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, alongside commercial space at street level. The plans allocate 22 EV-ready parking spots and 36 bicycle parking spaces for residents and visitors. Despite previous approval for a mixed-use building, the permit had expired, prompting the current proposal.

Council emphasized the development’s alignment with the city’s housing expansion goals and provincial directives. While the majority endorsed the project, concerns were raised about its compatibility with the neighborhood’s character. However, Mayor Julius Bloomfield endorsed the development, viewing it as an enhancement to Front Street’s aesthetics and an improvement over prior proposals.
