Oak Bay’s Carnarvon Park is considering various options for its future. The park’s infrastructure needs refreshing, prompting the exploration of options. At an open house in April, residents were surprised by proposals, including adding rental housing to the park’s layout alongside new amenities like a field house, community room, and childcare facilities. Residents were shown different scenarios ranging from single to four storey buildings. This inclusion of housing, particularly a proposed 24-unit building, raised concerns about the impact on parking and traffic.

However, Mayor Kevin Murdoch sees it as an opportunity to explore ideas and gather community feedback. The province’s housing demands, driven partly by immigration, add urgency to the discussion. Residents are encouraged to participate in the survey, with engagement events scheduled for input this summer.
