In response to the rapid growth in the Sooke School District, a new secondary school project is underway, aiming to accommodate more students. Over the past seven years, approximately $270 million has been allocated to create around 2,660 new student seats in the district, including various ongoing and completed projects such as the construction of Pexsisen Elementary and Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School. The Province has also allocated funds for the full replacement of Port Renfrew Elementary and prefabricated additions to David Cameron Elementary and Ruth King Elementary, adding 190 seats to each school.

Since 2017, the BC government has invested over $4 billion in new and improved schools, resulting in 25,000 new student spaces and 35,000 seismically safer seats statewide. Budget 2024 includes $3.75 billion for school capital projects over the next three years, covering new schools, seismic upgrades, and land purchases for future educational facilities.
