The new elementary school in Vancouver’s Olympic Village neighborhood is progressing with a finalized budget, aiming to accommodate 630 students with over $150 million in provincial funding. Set for completion by fall 2029, the four-storey school will feature a neighborhood learning center with childcare facilities and a rooftop play area. Additionally, the Henry Hudson Elementary is expanding to accommodate 145 more students with over $15 million in funding, bringing its capacity to 535 students by 2025.

In the past six years, the Province has invested $526 million in Vancouver’s school infrastructure, including new schools like David Lloyd George Elementary and seismic updates for others. Overall, the government has allocated over $4 billion since 2017 for school projects, resulting in 25,000 new student spaces and 35,000 seismically safe seats across BC. Budget 2024 has allocated $3.75 billion for school capital projects over the next three years, encompassing new schools, seismic upgrades, and land acquisitions.
