Langford council has approved rezoning for a new 103-room hotel in its downtown area. The six-storey building, branded Towneplace Suites by Marriott, will cater to short and long-term visitors. Expected to open by late 2025, it will be Langford’s third major hotel, following the Sheraton and Bear Mountain Resort. Council members expressed enthusiasm for the project, citing its alignment with Langford’s economic plan and the growing need for hotel spaces, especially with the development of Royal Roads University nearby. Anticipated to draw 34,000 visitors annually and generate up to 40 jobs, it will feature amenities like a coffee shop, business centre, swimming pool, meeting rooms, kitchen facilities, and rooms with full kitchens.

Concerns from neighboring residents about height, parking, and tree removal were raised during an open house, but the project proceeded through readings with council. Metropolitan Hospitality Management heads the project, backed by a track record of managing various hospitality and real estate ventures.
