The Government of BC is investing up to $33 million in rural communities across the province, focusing on economic diversification, clean-energy ventures, and infrastructure. Minister Brenda Bailey highlights the importance of empowering rural areas for growth and job creation. In the southern Interior region, $4 million from the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) will support 15 projects, including a $1 million allocation to the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation for its Lot 164 commercial complex expansion in Kamloops. This project aims to enhance economic development by adding a gas bar, restaurant, pharmacy, and office spaces.

REDIP plans to invest $99 million in over 300 rural projects within its first two years, with a third intake offering an additional $33 million. The province’s blueprint, “Clean and Competitive: A Blueprint for BC’s Industrial Future,” aims to attract new investment and create jobs in clean-energy and sustainable industries, strengthening the economy and improving quality of life.
