A massive 3.4 million square-foot development, including a hotel, entertainment venues, shopping, and businesses, is proposed for the current site of the Richmond Night Market, making it one of the largest developments under consideration in Richmond. The night market will continue operating for another three years while plans are underway. Jingon International Development, the applicant, aims to incorporate the night market into the development’s future phases. The project will unfold in three phases, with the city receiving $15 million and public spaces in exchange. Notable features include an arts facility, community safety building, park, and 1.6-acre riverside balcony.

The 20-acre land, currently zoned industrial, is slated for rezoning to high-rise riverfront commercial and institution, approved unanimously by the city council at the first reading. A public hearing is scheduled for May 21. The developer aims for full approval by next year.
