The new CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program aims to make the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy more affordable for low- and middle-income households, helping them save on energy bills and contribute to cleaner, more resilient communities.

Income-qualified applicants can receive up to $16,000 in rebates to switch to high-efficiency heat pumps from oil, natural gas, or propane. Those in northern B.C. (north of 100 Mile House) can get an extra $3,000 for heat pump installation. Additionally, homes needing electrical upgrades can receive up to $5,000 more, potentially totaling $24,000 in rebates for heat pump installation and electrical work.

The program continues to support other home-efficiency upgrades at current rebate levels, including insulation, windows, doors, and ventilation. Households switching from electric baseboards to electric heat pumps can also receive up to $5,000 in rebates through BC Hydro’s energy-efficiency measures.

Program registration will open on June 18, 2024. View all the details and eligibility criteria here.
