The BC government adds 20 cities and towns to its priority list for housing targets, aiming to address high-growth regions’ needs by complementing existing efforts and implementing legislative changes. Last year, 10 priority cities were named, calling for 60,000 new units over five years. The new communities, mainly in Metro Vancouver and southern Vancouver Island, include Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Prince George. The government plans to monitor their progress and establish housing growth targets this summer. The previously named priority municipalities include Vancouver, Victoria, Kamloops, Abbotsford, Delta, Saanich, the District of North Vancouver, Port Moody, Oak Bay, and West Vancouver.
