Surrey’s new Snokomish Elementary School, set to open in 2025, embraces modern learning principles and eco-conscious design. Located at 5845 and 5851 148th St., the 3-storey, 27-classroom school will feature increased energy efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to older buildings. The building also includes a 283m² Neighbourhood Learning Space, featuring daycare and before/after-school care.

The City of Surrey has invested $7.5 million in roadwork along 148th St., slated for completion by late 2024. This initiative, spanning 58 to 64 avenues, aims to enhance neighborhood safety and connectivity, incorporating multi-use paths, new traffic signals, and upgraded infrastructure. Mayor Brenda Locke has emphasized the significance of the 148 St. corridor’s upgrade in Surrey’s transportation plan.
