A new 500-bed student housing tower is set to be constructed in Surrey City Centre as part of the Health and Technology District (HTD) campus. Developed by Lark Group and ICT Group, this addition aims to accommodate students and faculty, particularly in partnership with Western Community College (WCC). The mixed-use building, City Centre 5, will feature housing, short-term spaces for healthcare institutions, a café, dining hall, and various amenities. Construction has begun at the southeast corner of 97a Avenue and 137 Street, with completion targeted for 2028.

Western Community College aims to address the need for student housing, emphasizing student success and well-being. This initiative aligns with Surrey’s growth, with UBC and SFU also eyeing expansions in the area, indicating the city’s appeal for educational institutions and private investments.
