The City of North Vancouver council has approved a 21-storey tower in Central Lonsdale on Monday. The tower, proposed by Three Shores Development, will feature 164 strata homes and commercial/office space at 120-128 East 14th St. Extra buildable space was granted due to a density transfer from the city-owned Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre lands, bringing in $18.2 million for the city. Due to provincial legislation, a public hearing was skipped. Concerns from residents, mainly from the CentreView building across the street, centered around density, traffic, parking, construction disruption, and obstructed views.

Council members emphasized the need for housing and the benefits of the development’s central location. The density transfer provides the city with funding for additional amenities. Mayor Buchanan defended the decision, highlighting the city’s growth strategy focused on transit and amenities.
