In Mississauga, a proposal is underway to revitalize a vacant property featuring two abandoned homes at 376 and 390 Derry Road West, in the Meadowvale area. Ballymore Homes plans to construct a total of 124 units, comprising 120 townhomes, two semi-detached, and two detached homes, alongside a commercial building along Derry Road West. This development aligns with Mississauga’s Official Plan and is deemed compatible with the surrounding neighborhood, according to city staff.

Despite a virtual community meeting held by Ward 11 Councillor Brad Butt, no residents attended, and the city hasn’t received written feedback either in support or against the development. The property, previously used for truck parking, now sits mostly vacant, with only two boarded-up homes visible. The proposed plan also incorporates a common element condominium road and allocates almost 70 square feet of outdoor space for each unit. The City of Mississauga’s Planning and Development committee will review the proposal on June 3, with staff recommending its approval.
