CMHC reported a 22% decrease in the annual pace of housing starts in August from July. The seasonally adjusted rate fell to 217,405 units from 279,804. This decline was mainly driven by a 29% drop in multi-unit urban starts, while single-detached urban starts saw a slight increase of 3%.
