BC is granting exemptions for ongoing housing projects from the new 2024 BC Building Code requirements for earthquake design and adaptable dwellings. Projects already underway before March 8, 2024, may continue to follow the 2018 standards, provided they meet certain conditions and apply for building permits before March 2027.
