Chartwell Acquires 3 Vancouver Island Properties for $227M

BC Government Pays $26M to Return Nanaimo Site to First Nation

BC is returning a 2.67-hectare property in downtown Nanaimo to the Snuneymuxw First Nation under the Sarlequun Snuneymuxw Treaty of 1854. The province contributed $26 million of the $28.5 million purchase price. To prepare for redevelopment, the province is investing another $1 million to fund site security, demolition, and remediation.

BC Housing Offers 78 Supportive Homes in Nanaimo

BC Housing will lease Travellers Lodge in Nanaimo to provide 78 supportive homes featuring studio units with private bathrooms and gardens. The facility will provide 24/7 staffing, life-skills training, and health resources. The monthly rent of $500 will include meals and laundry. The homes will be available in early 2025.
