March Sales Up 25% in the Interior Housing Market

The Interior housing market report for March revealed a 25.1% increase in residential sales from February and an 11.9% rise from last March. Kamloops Approves Two New Rental Developments

Kamloops city council approved development permits for two rental apartment buildings. A five-storey, 13 two-bedroom building at 1712 Tranquille Rd will replace a single-family home and offer 11 parking spaces. A three-storey, 34-unit building on Pacific Way by Brevik Holdings will include 26 parking spots and various amenities.

Kamloops Council Will Vote on Allowing Short-Term Rentals

Kamloops City Council proposes allowing short-term rentals like Airbnb under a $67 business license. The change would permit rentals in principal residences, separate suites, and strata developments, impacting the long-term rental market's 1.4% vacancy rate. Currently, 80% of 300 listings violate city regulations.

Okanagan Market Has a Strong Start to the Year

The Interior BC real estate markets saw increased sales and new listings, surpassing levels from December and January 2024. Benchmark prices increased across the Okanagan and Shuswap/Revelstoke regions, with the highest increase of 11% seen in South Okanagan. Kamloops prices dipped across all property types.

Kamloops Advances 180-Unit Project in Pineview Valley

Kamloops has approved a 180-unit project at 1920 Copperhead Dr. in Pineview Valley. The development includes 60 apartment units and 120 townhouses. Concerns remain about maintaining trail connectivity and environmental impact. City staff assured residents that this will be addressed during the development permit stage.

Kamloops Approves Permit for 128-Unit Apartment Project

Kamloops city council approved a development permit for a six-storey, 128-unit rental apartment building by A&T Project Developments on Notre Dame Drive. The unanimous vote allows replacing the existing Bianca Amor's building. The project is phase one of two, with a tax exemption granted and sanitary sewer upgrades required.
